Values School started as Matina Preschool along Juna Avenue and later as Bajada Preschool along J.P. Laurel Avenue in Davao City, Philippines. Its curriculum was adapted from the progressive Child Development Center of the University of the Philippines.

Mrs. Fe Aida L. Reyes, the school directress, is a graduate of the University of the Philippines College of Education, where she was rigidly trained in the teaching of reading, literature and other pedagogy. She later completed her Masters Degree in Management, with a major in Educational Administration at UP Mindanao.

She credits her love for teaching to her mother, Vicenta Lacsamana, who founded The Light Bringer School. She in fact started to experience working in her mother’s school as a teacher aide, janitress and a cafeteria helper. So early on, she learned the value of “learning by doing,” and the dignity of labor.
